To have "Armor-like Diligence".
We have become aquainted with soo-soo many pointers aimed at improving one's life quality,
sense of well being & freedom. " Be Positive" is a maxim easily thrown by all people towards each other . It appears that sometimes we dont understand what to be positive for.
'Be positive' , that you will get that desired job, desired girlfriend, home, holiday, pleasure, family.
And of course, then comes the crashing thunder of disappointment . We have laid down all of our eggs in the basket of desire, of individual want, the personal mind.
and its smelly often!
Papaji said " You need something to sad. But you need nothing to be happy".
Perhaps it was Papaji who reiterated " TRUE JOY IS UNCAUSED".
It is beyond Cause and Effect. Of course, to reach this very crescendo of the Ultimate Reality, we need to prepare the foundation for it. The foundation of
virtuous deeds, of good thoughts and speech. The dictum of Purity, must be cultivated.
Then, we are perhaps prepared for the final Knowing. That, which always was, is and will be.
So, i think in essence, what we are 'positive for ' is actually to reach the final shore.
The state of Fullness, Nothingness, Completeness, Poornam(Sanskrit for Wholeness).
The State of 'No Return". No more infighting, no more little "i".The All-pervasive Self.
& Being such a lofty Goal, the Goal of Self Realization with many mountains, and valleys to cross, we do need a good deal of
Self-Confidence( Atma-Vishwasa). Confidence in the Self. In the Source. Delight is also a good ingredient to have along the way, Power, fortitude.
I think thats what Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche, the Guru to His Holiness The Dalai Lama, and
one of the most acclaimed and authentic Buddhist Masters of all time, said when he mentioned that we need the
"Armor-like Diligence" of Joyous Courage and Fortitude on the Journey of Spirit.
We need this basic optimism, to go on the path towards full Enlightenment, towards full
avowal of our true Selves.
So that, we may crow out our true Existence like the rooster of Dawn.
This 'armor-like diligence', of patience, perseverance, joy, against the varying seasons of life and time, and decay and rot, will
help us to stay more and more in tune with the unlimited Self, will help us to continue our spiritual practices,
Sadhana, our work in life, our duties towards relations and life, in such a way, that we will finally
come out victorious. We would have gained mastery over the world of opposites,
and stepped on the head of Maya-The Cosmic Illusion.
Now, that would be an achievement, isnt it.
